11 RELOCATING THE MOBILE SCAFFOLD TOWER
Procedure for relocating the mobile scaffold tower:
-Check the environment for obstacles that may be around the route that the mobile
scaffold tower will follow. Make sure the surface is clean, check the route on
potholes / unevenness / cables / irregularities / traffic / passers-by.
-In the event of wind forces larger than 4 Beaufort the scaffold may no longer be
relocated (4 Beaufort: dust, sand and paper will be blown up, small branches will be
torn off; the wind speed is 5.5 – 7.9 m/s = ±20 - 28 km/h).
-There must be no loose materials or persons on the scaffold.
-The caster brakes must only be unlocked before relocating.
-When relocating the scaffold, the support points of the legs/arches
may be a maximum of 8 cm free from the ground.
- When relocating, the legs/arches must be at an angle of 40° - 50° to maximise
length and width.
-The scaffold may only be relocated longitudinally by hand, preferably by 2 people.
Make sure that the scaffold is not warped when relocating.
-After the mobile scaffold tower is in position, immediately lock all caster brakes by
pressing the brake pedal at each caster.
-After relocating, the mobile scaffold tower must be levelled again for which a
maximum inclination of 1% is allowed.
(1% = a maximum of 1 cm inclination measured per 1 metre)
-After aligning the mobile scaffold tower with a spirit level, the support points of the
legs/arches must be adjusted in such a way that they make contact with the ground
again.
-Before using the mobile scaffold tower, check whether the legs/arches are securely
attached and touch the ground.
Caution: If the above procedure cannot be complied with, the mobile
scaffold tower must be disassembled and erected at the new
location.
