Operation Modes
The mode switch lets you choose how the DIR-869 operates. Select either Router Mode or Extender Mode.
• Router Mode shares your Internet connection. This is the factory default setting suitable for most users.
• Extender Mode extends your existing network.
Refer to the following pages for information on the DIR-869's operation modes. This information includes usage scenarios,
cable diagrams, and network conguration information.
Note: Determine your desired type of operation and adjust the mode switch before you begin your installation. If the mode
switch is adjusted while powered on, the DIR-869 will reboot into the new mode after ve seconds.
Note: Extender Mode Access Point functionality available at launch, additional functionality available via rmware update in
Q3 2016.
