Maintenance and care: Preventive maintenance

WARNING
There might be sharp edges on the fan boxes, which implies a risk of cutting
yourself.
Wear protective gloves while inspecting and cleaning the fan boxes.
1 Remove one of the fan boxes.
Pull out the left with a pincer
Pull out the right with the hand
(remember to wear gloves).
2 Carefully clean the fan's blades with
compressed air or a brush through the
opening at the base of the fan box. All
blades must be clean to maintain ventila-
tor balance. Be careful not to remove the
small metal balancing pieces on the fan
blades as this may cause vibrations.
3 Turn the fan with your ngers and listen
for buzzing sounds from the bearing.
If this occurs, the fan probably needs
replacing.
4 Ret the fan box and repeat steps 1–5 with the other fan box.
Follow this procedure, if the unit is equipped with a heating element:

1 Make sure the heating element is completely cooled before cleaning.
WARNING
The heating element can become very hot. If it does not cool down complete-
ly, there is a risk of severe skin burns.
Disconnect mains plug from electrical outlet and wait for 10 minutes in order
to ensure that the heating element is completely cooled.
2 Remove the heating element.
3 Clean with a brush and inspect for visible
damage.
4 Ret the heating element.
Inspect and clean the bypass with a brush, if needed.
