7.2 CLEANING IN PLACE (CIP)
The complete unit should be cleaned entirely prior to opening and drying the system. The
following cleaning sequences must be strictly followed.
Operate the PTS System for a few cycles without sucking in any powder being able to empty the
suction hose and flush the PTS body from the remaining traces of powder
Danger of explosion!
CIP with solvents requires some precautions:
- The vacuum pump must be hot (should be started around 15 min before);
- The vacuum pump exhaust should be connected to an exhaust for
solvents (such as a scrubber);
- The vacuum pump should be ATEX zone 1 internal;
- We also recommend a liquid trap in the vacuum line, in fact this is also
recommended for execution with water now;
- It is also necessary to set a frequency to change the oil of the vacuum
pump and possibly use synthetic oil with better chemical resistance.
1) Fill a drum with the cleaning liquid;
2) Close the automatic ball valve of the vacuum line (selector in “cleaning” mode). The flow
opening is reduced by the perforated ball or by the opening of the manual ball valve of the
by-pass in its middle position (this position can be changed according to experience);
3) Introduce the suction lance into the liquid;
Risk of damage to components!
Make sure that the lance is at the bottom of the drum and that the drum is full
before starting the suction of the liquid preventing suction of air and developing
high turbulence in the system.
4) Start the vacuum pump;
5) Open the nitrogen source/compressed air;
6) Adapt the suction time in order to fill the PTS chamber completely;
7) Start the PTS from the control panel and empty the drum.
