8 OPERATING PROBLEMS AND THEIR SOLUTIONS
The PTS is a very simple and reliable system. However, in case of operating problems, refer to the
following table, which summarizes some typical problems which might occur including their
solutions.
Please contact the manufacturer, in case the problem cannot be solved.
N° Problem
Probable cause Solution
1
Low or diminished transfer
rate.
Undersized PTS model.
The vacuum capacity is too low -
undersized vacuum pump.
The vacuum source is being used
for various simultaneous
applications.
Wrong diameter of the hoses.
The transfer distance is too long.
Incorrect adjustment of the
cycles.
The vacuum and/or pressure
valves are installed too far away
from the PTS.
The vacuum hose is undersized.
The powder transfer hose is not
being fed properly.
Poor discharge of the suction
hopper.
Choose a bigger PTS model.
Increase the vacuum
capacity.
Make sure that the vacuum
source is not being used for
other applications while
running the PTS.
Change the diameter of the
hoses to the one prescribed
by the manufacturer.
Decrease the transfer
distance.
Modify the parameters
according to the prescriptions
of the manufacturer.
Install the vacuum and
pressure valves closer to the
PTS (< 2m).
Adapt the diameter of the
hose according to the
prescriptions of the
manufacturer.
Verify the fluidization of the
powder in the hose. Too much
air decreases the transfer
capacity; too little air can
plug up the hose.
Break any bridges which might
have been produced. If this
problem occurs frequently,
modify the hopper or add a
pneumatic vibrator or a
mechanical device.
