Sample Preparation

As mentioned earlier, this screen shows you the dif-
ference in temperature between the sample temper-
ature (Ts) and the block temperature (Tb). When
Ts-Tb is in the 0 to -0.5 range, the temperatures are
close enough that your read time should not be
very long. If the temperature difference is outside
this range (like -0.5 to -1.0), you may still begin
sampling by turning the knob to the READ position,
however your readings may take longer until the
temperatures equilibrate.
If samples are significantly warmer than the cham-
ber when they are placed in it (Ts-Tb is a high posi-
tive number), condensation may occur and moisture
will condense inside the block. In order to prevent
this, do the following:
1. Place your sample in the chamber, slide the
drawer closed and press the lower right button
to access the sample temperature screen and
look at the temperature difference. If the sample
temperature is shown to be very high (a high
positive number), take the sample out immedi-
ately and let it cool on a cold surface with the
Ts-Tb = -0.49
