V1213, 3.22
Changing the length of a side is allowed in case this change has only effect on the shape of
the active surface.
It is allowed to change the length of a bend line, as long as other surfaces and bends are not
affected by this change.
Changing the length of a side is not allowed in case both ends belong to the bend line and
both ends have a side that is in line with the direction of the bend line. That is why in the below
figure both ends of side number 3 can be moved while this is not possible for side number 2 of
figure further below.
Side 1: this side can be extended or shrunk in both directions (both ends are free).
Side 2: only the free end that is not connected to a bend line can be changed.
Side 3: this side can be extended in both directions.
Side 4: only the free end that is not connected to a bend line can be changed.
Side 1: only the free end that is not connected to a bend line can be changed.
Side 2: this side cannot be changed (there are sides connected to both ends which are in line
with the side itself).
Side 3: only the free end that is not connected to a bendline can be changed.
Side 4: this side can be extended or shrunk in both directions (both ends are free).
Side 5: this side can be extended or shrunk in both directions (both ends are free).
Side 6: this side can be extended or shrunk in both directions (both ends are free).
The next picture explains two ways to create a hexagon. Both options start with a base of two
rectangles with an angle of 180 degrees.
