Overview

The DENVER CAD-375 is a car stereo CD/CDR/CDRW/MP3/WMA player with PLL FM stereo radio, RDS, and a detachable front panel. This unit is designed to provide a comprehensive audio experience in your vehicle, offering various playback options and radio functionalities.

Function Description

The core function of the CAD-375 is to play audio from multiple sources. It supports traditional CD formats (CD, CDR, CDRW) as well as modern digital audio files (MP3, WMA) from discs. The integrated PLL FM stereo radio allows you to tune into your favorite FM stations, enhanced by RDS (Radio Data System) features for additional information and functionalities. The detachable front panel serves as a security feature to deter theft.

Usage Features

Power On/Off: The unit can be turned on or off by pressing the power button. It also powers on by pressing any key, offering convenience.

Volume and Audio Controls: A central VOL knob allows for adjusting the volume. Pressing this knob briefly cycles through various audio functions, including BASS, TREBLE, BALANCE, and FADER. Once a function is selected, turning the VOL knob (right or left) adjusts its level.

DSP Controls: The unit offers Digital Signal Processing (DSP) controls, which can be accessed by pressing the VOL knob for more than 2 seconds. This allows you to select different sound presets like POP M, ROCK M, CLASS M, FLAT M, or turn DSP OFF.

Loudness Control: By pressing the VOL knob for more than 2 seconds, you can activate the LOUDNESS ON/OFF mode. When Loudness is ON, the bass and treble response will be boosted, enhancing the audio experience, especially at lower volumes.

ESP Mode: The Electronic Skip Protection (ESP) mode helps prevent audio interruptions caused by road bumps. You can select between 12-second or 45-second ESP modes by pressing the VOL knob for more than 2 seconds.

Beep Mode: The BEEP mode, activated by pressing the VOL knob for more than 2 seconds, allows you to turn the button beep sound ON or OFF. When BEEP ON is selected, a sound will be heard from the speaker whenever a button is pressed.

Radio Functions:

  • Band Selection: The BAND button cycles through FM1, FM2, and FM3 bands.
  • Automatic or Manual Tuning: The FREQ UP (►►) and FREQ DOWN (◄◄) buttons are used for tuning. A short press performs manual tuning, while a press longer than 1 second initiates seek tuning.
  • Auto Seek Search Tuning (AS/PS): Pressing AS/PS briefly searches for each preset station. Pressing it longer than 1 second automatically presets the 6 strongest stations to the corresponding preset numbers.
  • Scan Tuning (SCAN): The SCAN button initiates an automatic tuning control that holds on each detected station for 5 seconds before moving to the next.
  • Preset Stations: Six numbered buttons (1-6) allow you to store and recall your favorite radio stations.
  • Local/DX: This feature, accessed by pressing the VOL knob for more than 2 seconds, allows you to switch between "Local" and "Distant" reception modes. "Local" mode filters out weaker signals, stopping only at strong stations, while "Distant" mode allows listening to all stations, useful in areas with weak signals.
  • Stereo/Mono: For weak and disturbed FM stations, selecting "Mono" mode (accessed via the VOL knob for more than 2 seconds) can improve listening clarity.
  • RDS Features: The unit supports RDS, providing advanced radio functionalities:
    • AF (Alternative Frequencies): When AF is active, the radio automatically switches to a stronger frequency for the same station if the current signal weakens.
    • TA (Traffic Announcement): When TA is active, the unit will interrupt current audio playback to broadcast traffic announcements.
    • PTY (Program Type): This function allows you to search for stations based on program type (e.g., NEWS, SPORTS, ROCK M).
    • TA SEEK/TA ALARM: These modes, activated by pressing the VOL knob for more than 2 seconds, manage how the radio handles TP (Traffic Program) information. In TA seek mode, the radio retunes to a new station with TP information if the current one loses its signal. In TA alarm mode, only a beep sound is heard without automatic retuning.
    • MASK DPI: This feature, also accessed via the VOL knob for more than 2 seconds, allows masking AFs that have different PI (Program Identification) or no RDS signal.
    • RETUNE L/S: These controls, activated by pressing the VOL knob for more than 2 seconds, set the initial time for automatic TA search (90 seconds for RETUNE L, 30 seconds for RETUNE S).

CD/MP3/WMA Player Functions:

  • CD Slot: Insert discs into the CD slot for playback.
  • Eject Button: The EJECT button removes the CD from the slot.
  • Track/Search Buttons (►► / ◄◄):
    • Short press: Skips to the next or previous track.
    • Long press: Scans forward or backward through the disc at high speed.
  • Pause Button (PAU): Pauses playback and resumes it with another press.
  • Intro Button (INT): Plays the first 10 seconds of each track on the disc, indicated by 'INT ON'. Press again to cancel.
  • Repeat Button (RPT): Repeats the current track.
  • Random Button (RDM): Plays tracks in a random order.

Display: The LCD display shows various information depending on the mode, such as radio frequencies, clock, track number, and other relevant details.

AUX IN: The front AUX IN jack allows you to connect external audio devices like portable media players or MP3 players, expanding your audio source options.

Panel Release: The PANEL RELEASE button allows you to detach the front panel for security.

Reset Button: A small RESET button is located on the housing. Pressing it will reset the unit to its factory default settings. This is useful for troubleshooting or after initial installation.

Power Indicator LED: An LED indicates when the unit is powered on.

Maintenance Features

Fuse Replacement: The unit is equipped with a fuse for protection. If the fuse blows, it should be replaced with a fuse of the same amperage. Using a higher amperage fuse can cause serious damage.

Detachable Front Panel: The front panel can be detached to prevent theft. When detaching, ensure the unit is OFF first. When attaching, make sure the panel is oriented correctly and press it lightly until it clicks into place. It is recommended to store the detached panel in the supplied case to protect it.

Installation Precautions:

  • Choose a mounting location that does not interfere with driving.
  • Avoid locations exposed to direct sunlight, heat, dust, or excessive vibration.
  • Use the supplied mounting hardware for secure installation.
  • Ensure the front panel can be attached and detached easily after installation.
  • The unit requires a 12V DC power supply and is compatible with 4 or 8 ohm speakers.

Environment Protection: The manual includes instructions for environmentally responsible disposal of the product at the end of its lifecycle, emphasizing recycling of electrical and electronic appliances.
