4 Before first use

4.3 Charging the batteries in the appliance
The rechargeable batteries must be charged
before working with the appliance. To do this:
1. Make sure that that appliance is switched
off.
2. Put the appliance on its back as shown
(Fig. 11/B).
3. Insert the mains adapter into the charger
socket on the bottom of the appliance
(Fig. 11/A).
4. Connect the mains adapter to a socket
that carries the same voltage as that indi-
cated on the mains adapter's type plate.
5. Now let the batteries charge for about six-
teen hours until the on/off button emits a
continuous blue light. A short melody
sounds. The on/off button shows the
charging progress as follows (Fig. 11/B):
- flashes red: appliance is charging
- flashes blue: batteries are approx. 80%
charged.
- continuous blue light: batteries are fully
charged.
6. If a continuous blue light is coming from
the on/off button, pull the power cord out
from the socket and then from the appli-
ance (Fig. 11/C).
7. Take this opportunity to attach a floor
cloth, ZChapter 5.1, "Attach floor cloth".
WARNING:
Danger of injury due to incorrect charging!
Only use the charging station and mains
adapter supplied to charge the batteries.
NOTE:
The appliance cannot be charged when
switched on.

ATTENTION:
Make sure you charge the batteries fully
and then discharge them fully before using
for the first time. Otherwise the batteries'
service life would be reduced.
NOTE:
Do not recharge the appliance again until a
continuous red light is emitted from the on/
off button. Subsequent charging cycles will
take approx. 14 hours.
ATTENTION:
Never operate the sweeping robot without a
floor cloth attached. Otherwise, surfaces
might be damaged.
