In addition, lubrication will be optimised for the longer
working life of the engine. It is also important to use only
qualifi ed brands of petrol and oil, and to use the fuel/oil
mixture within three weeks of preparation.
Mix the petrol with the oil before adding it
to the tank, and perform this operation in
an open area with good ventilation far from
sparks and fl ames and sources of non-elec-
tric light, without smoking, and with the en-
gine off.
- Proceed to the fi lling of the tank by slowly unscrew-
ing the cap and pouring in the mixture, being careful
to avoid spilling and im me di ate ly wiping up any spills
that occur from around the engine. Be careful not to
spill any mixture on your clothing.
- Start the engine at least three meters away from the
place where the fuel tank was fi lled in order to avoid
risk of fi re.
- Never fi ll the fuel tank when the machine is hot.
4.3 Use of the gas control handle
For the correct use of the gas control handle (Fig. 19),
the operator must be familiar with all its functions, and
in this way switch on the machine and keep the work
speed under control.
SEMI-ACCELERATION FOR STARTING
- Grip the gas control handle by pressing the red safe ty
trigger po si tion on the top part of the knob with the
palm of your hand.
- Press the accelerator lever to the end of its stroke.
- Position the red button in the START position and then
release the lever.
- You can now start the machine. The use of the safety
trigger is in dis pen sa ble in order to avoid dangerous
accelerations caused by imprudent or accidental ma-
noeuvres. If the safety trigger is not pressed fi rst, the
accelerator lever cannot be used.
N.B. After the engine has started, the button au to -
mat i cal ly re turns to its central position after the
fi rst ac cel er a tion.
ACCELERATION WITH THE MACHINE SWITCHED
ON
- Grip the gas control handle by pressing the safety
trigger.
- Press the accelerator lever as required by the speed
to be used.
STOP (to switch off the engine)
- Release the accelerator lever and the safety trig ger,
and then set the button in the STOP position.
- In order to re-start the machine, the red button must
be set in the CENTRAL position, and then the var i ous
semi-acceleration and acceleration operations can be
performed as explained above.
