What to do if my DR 6.25 TOW-BEHIND engine will not start?
    • F
      fisherdanielleAug 1, 2025
If your DR Lawn Mower engine won't start, there are several things you can check: * Ensure the throttle is in the fast (rabbit) position. * If the engine is cold, make sure you've pushed and released the primer bulb at least three times. * Check that the spark plug wire is properly attached. * Verify the engine has the correct amount of clean oil; if the oil is dirty, change it. * Use fresh, clean, unleaded gas; if the gas is old, replace it, and use a fuel stabilizer if you store gas for more than a month. * Check that the air filter is clean. * Ensure the spark plug is clean; if it's dirty or cracked, replace it; if it’s oily, remove it, cover the spark plug hole with a rag, pull the recoil cord several times to clear any oil from the cylinder, then wipe the spark plug and reinsert it.

How to fix a DR 6.25 TOW-BEHIND engine that smokes?
    • S
      Sharon BerryAug 10, 2025
If your DR Lawn Mower engine is smoking, check the oil level and adjust if needed. You might be operating the machine on too steep of an incline. Inspect the air filter and clean or replace it if necessary. Also, ensure you're using the correct oil for the temperature. Clean the engine cooling fins and the carburetor housing if they are dirty.

Why is the recoil on my DR 6.25 TOW-BEHIND Lawn Mower difficult to pull?
    • S
      Spencer AllenAug 20, 2025
If the recoil on your DR Lawn Mower is difficult to pull, it could be due to a few reasons. The engine may be seized, so check the engine oil level. There might be an oil compression lock in the cylinder; remove the spark plug, cover the spark plug hole with a rag, and pull the recoil cord several times to blow out any oil. Wipe off the spark plug and reinstall it. Also, the recoil itself may be broken or jammed; try turning the engine by rotating the trimmer head with the spark plug removed. If it turns, the recoil is likely broken or jammed.
