1.1.3.1 Overview
The following illustration shows the device and the breathing system.
42406
No. Designation Description
1 Airway pressure gauge Mechanically measures the airway pressure
and displays it on an analog indicator.
2 Inspiratory port Used to connect the inspiratory hose to the
device.
3 Breathing bag arm (option) with
circuit plug
Used to connect the breathing bag. The circuit
plug is used to seal the Y-piece during an auto-
matic test.
Without this option, a bag elbow is provided
instead of the breathing bag arm.
4 APL valve In the Man/Spon mode: Limits the maximum
airway pressure to the set value (during manual
ventilation: Man) or enables spontaneous
breathing when set to Spont.
5 Breathing system cover Protects the breathing system underneath and
provides climate control for the breathing sys-
tem.
6 Expiratory port Used to connect the expiratory hose to the
device.
7 Holder Used to hold a suction hose with suction cathe-
ter.
8 Handles Used for positioning the device and for stowing
used breathing hoses.
9CO
2 absorber Absorbs CO2 from the patient’s expiratory gas.
10 Anesthetic gas receiving system Used for scavenging excess anesthetic gas and
breathing gas, to reduce the anesthetic gas con-
centration released into the environment by the
anesthesia machine, and to scavenge the sam-
ple gases from an external anesthetic gas moni-
tor.
