7. Seal all seams and connections with
building code approved sealant or duct
tape.
NOTE: When using smooth hard duct,
install flexible connection between Dremel
LC40 laser cutter and hard duct to isolate
vibration from duct and prevent duct
damage. Up to six inches of provided
Exhaust Hose may be used to create
flexible connection.
Setting up Exhaust Management
Method B: External Booster Fan
Exhaust management method B uses an
external booster fan to vent exhaust to the
outside of the building. When selecting an
external booster fan, choose a centrifugal
inline fan with sealed housings, such as
one designed for radon mitigation
applications. For use with 4” diameter
duct, the fan must have an airflow capacity
of at least 90 cubic feet per minute (CFM)
at 1.21 inches w.c. For use with 5”
diameter duct, the fan must have an
airflow capacity of at least 90 cubic feet
per minute (CFM) at 1.33 inches w.c.
When using the external booster fan be
sure to choose correct ventilation option
on the Touch Screen during the Dremel
LC40 Laser Cutter startup sequence. The
instructions provided below are for
installing the materials provided by
Dremel. Consult manufacturer instructions
for all other materials.
Items needed: External Booster Fan,
flexible duct or smooth hard duct and
elbows, building code approved sealant or
duct tape, Exhaust Vent Hood.
1.Identify an exhaust discharge point that
complies with exhaust discharge
requirements listed above.
2.Select Exhaust Vent Hood that complies
with exhaust discharge requirements
listed above. Install Exhaust Vent Hood
according to the manufacturer’s
instructions and relevant building and
fire codes.
3.Connect the Dremel LC40 Laser Cutter
Exhaust Shroud to the External Booster
Fan inlet and External Booster Fan outlet
to Exhaust Vent Hood with flexible duct
or smooth hard duct according to duct
manufacturer instructions, relevant
building and fire codes, and Table 4
below.
• If using flexible duct, you may use the
provided Hose Clamps to secure duct to
Laser Cutter Exhaust Shroud and
External Booster Fan inlet.
