WARNING - READ CAREFULLY
Note to Installers
Thiswarning containsvitalinformation. As the onlyindividualin contact with system users, it is yourresponsibility to bring each item in thiswarning to the attention of the usersof thissystem.
System Failures
Thissystem hasbeen carefullydesigned to be aseffective as possible. There are circumstances, however, involving fire, burglary, or other types of emergencies where it may not provide protection. Anyalarm system of anytype maybe
compromised deliberately or mayfailto operate asexpected for a varietyof reasons. Some but not allof these reasonsmaybe:
Inadequate Installation
Asecurity system must be installed properlyin orderto provide adequate protection. Everyinstallation should be evaluated by a securityprofessionalto ensure that allaccesspoints and areas are covered. Locksand latcheson windows
and doorsmust be secure and operate as intended. Windows, doors, walls, ceilings and other building materials must be of sufficient strength and construction to provide the levelof protection expected. Areevaluation must be done
during and after anyconstruction activity. An evaluation by the fire and/or police department is highly recommended if this service is available.
Criminal Knowledge
Thissystem containssecurity featureswhich were known to be effective at the time of manufacture. It ispossible for personswith criminalintent to develop techniqueswhich reduce the effectivenessof these features. It is important
that a securitysystem be reviewed periodicallyto ensure that itsfeaturesremain effective and that it be updated orreplaced if it is found that it does not provide the protection expected.
Access by Intruders
Intrudersmayenter through an unprotected access point, circumvent a sensing device, evade detection by moving through an area of insufficient coverage, disconnect a warning device, or interfere with or prevent the proper oper-
ation of the system.
Power Failure
Controlunits, intrusion detectors, smoke detectorsand manyother security devices require an adequate powersupplyforproper operation. If a device operates from batteries, it ispossible for the batteriesto fail. Even if the batteries
have not failed, they must be charged, in good condition and installed correctly. If a device operatesonly byAC power, anyinterruption, however brief, willrender that device inoperative while it does not have power. Power interruptions
of any length are often accompanied by voltage fluctuations which maydamage electronicequipment such as a securitysystem. After a powerinterruption hasoccurred, immediatelyconduct a complete system test to ensure that the
system operatesas intended.
