The DSC Power Series PC1616 is a security system designed to protect premises, featuring two variations of keypads for user interaction. This quick guide provides essential information for operating and maintaining the system, covering arming and disarming, battery management, bypassing protected areas, setting the date and time, managing chimes and beeps, resetting the system, and handling security codes and trouble conditions.
The system offers several arming modes to suit different situations. To arm all sensors in AWAY mode when leaving the premises, simply press and hold the [AWAY] button. If you are staying on the premises, you can arm all sensors in STAY mode by pressing and holding the [STAY] button or by entering your [security code] without leaving. For a more comprehensive arming where both interior and exterior areas are armed, use NIGHT mode by pressing [*] + [1] after first arming in STAY mode. For quick arming, press [*] + [0]. The Quick Arm feature can be enabled or disabled by entering [*] + [9] + [Master Code] + [4]. To disarm the system, simply enter your [security code]. For a more detailed understanding of arming and disarming, refer to the complete DSC PC1616 manual.
The DSC Power Series 1616 operates on a UB 1270 battery. The system provides clear indicators for battery status. A loss of AC power, resulting in the system running on backup battery power, is indicated by "NO AC" on the display. A low battery condition is specifically indicated by "BAT." For instructions on how to replace the battery, consult the Battery Replacement Page for this specific battery model.
The bypass feature allows you to arm your system while intentionally leaving certain protected areas unarmed. This is useful if you need to access a specific protected area while the system is armed. To bypass a zone, first press [*] to enter the function menu. Then, press [1] OR [*], followed by your [security code]. You can then enter the two-digit number of the zone to be bypassed, or use the [<>] keys to navigate and find the desired zone. Press [*] to select the zone. Once a zone is successfully bypassed, a [B] will appear on the display. To exit bypassing mode and return the system to a Ready state, press [#]. If you need to unbypass a zone, enter the two-digit zone number or use the [<>] keys to find the zone, then press [*]. The [B] indicator will then disappear from the display. For more comprehensive information on this topic, refer to the complete DSC PC1616 manual.
To adjust the system's date and time, press [*] + [6] + [Master security code]. Alternatively, you can use the [<>] keys to find the [Time and Date] option in the menu, then press [1]. For setting the time, you can either enter it in a 24-hour format (e.g., 16:30 for 4:30 PM) or use the [<>] scroll keys to find the desired time. Similarly, for the date, you can enter it in MM:DD:YY format (e.g., 03/02/15 for March 2, 2015) or use the [<>] scroll keys to find the correct date.
The system includes a chime mode that sounds three tones whenever a protected door or window is opened, providing an audible alert. To toggle the door chime function on or off, press and hold the [Chime] key for two seconds, or alternatively, press [*] + [4]. This allows you to enable or disable the chime as needed.
The system offers several reset functions. To view the display after an alarm event, press [*] + [3] or use the [<>] keys to view the sensors involved in the alarm event. To clear your alarm history after an event, you must first arm your system with your [security code], then disarm it to clear the event history. If a fire alarm has occurred, hold the [Reset] button for several seconds to clear the fire alarm history from the display. Trouble Condition alarms will automatically clear from the display once the underlying condition no longer exists.
The DSC Power Series PC1616 allows for the programming of additional user codes with varying attributes. While additional users are typically restricted to arming and disarming functions, the Master user code has full control over all system functions. To program a new user, press [*] + [5] + [Master security code]. Then, enter the two-digit number for the user code you wish to program (e.g., 06 for Access Code 6), or use the [<>] keys to find the desired user code and press [*] to select it. Next, enter the new user's access code. You can continue adding additional user codes or press [#] to exit. To erase an access code, select the code using [*] as the first digit, and the system will automatically erase it.
Some user numbers come pre-programmed with specific access levels:
For more detailed information on security codes, refer to the complete DSC PC1616 manual.
When a trouble condition is detected, the Trouble or System indicator on the keypad will illuminate, and the keypad will beep every 10 seconds to alert you. To silence these beeps, press [#]. To view the specific Trouble Condition, press [*] + [2]. If you need to override a Trouble Condition and proceed to arm the system, press [*] + [2], then press [9].
