7 Operation - Hand sanitizing
WARNING!
Supervision of children handling hand sanitizers
The licensing for hand sanitizers under German pharmaceutical law is
generally granted for grown-ups.
There are no hand sanitizers licensed especially for children.
However, this does not mean that children may not or should not disinfect
their hands. Children should however carry out hand disinfecting under
supervision. It is important that children do not touch their face with fresh
product on their fingers, much less touch their eyes.
When smaller children, it is better if a grown-up disinfects the child’s hands
by putting the child’
s hands in between his/her own hands and rubbing on
the preparation and waiting for it to absorb (usually 30 seconds).
Alcoholic hand sanitizers contain care substances and are harmless for
intact skin. In contrast to soap and water, alcohol changes the natural acidic
outside layer of the skin, thereby retaining its skin-protecting properties.
The alcohol components of a hand sanitizer containing alcohol evaporate
very quickly when applied. Alcohol cannot get into the body via the skin.
DANGER!
No mobile phones, heating systems, Dermados Station open lighting
systems etc. should be used within 0.5 m of them for explosion protection.
DANGER!
Risk of burns due to electrostatic charge
Ethanol burns with a hardly visible flame and can be ignited by static
electricity. It is therefore essential to ensure that your hands are dry after
using the disinfectant dispenser and before touching another person or
object in order to rule out static inflammation.
As long as the hand is held in the sensor area, the system doses once.
If the dosage is to be triggered several times, the hand must be removed
and then brought back into the sensor area. If higher dosing quantities are
required, it is easier and more sensible to increase the dosing levels. To
change the dosing level, see
Ä
‘Set dosing level (dosing quantity):’
on page 27.
Make sure that the dispenser is ready for operation.
An LED is mounted on the top of dispenser, easily visible:
n LED lights up blue = Dispenser is ready for use.
n Red LED is visible = malfunction, e.g. Replace batteries
n LED lights up blue-red (mixed colour) = electronic malfunction or
incorrect operation. Perform a "reset" as a first measure
(see
Ä
Chapter 8 ‘Description and rectification of malfunctions’
on page 30). If this does not remedy the problem, please ask the
manufacturer (
Ä
Chapter 1.8 ‘Contacts’ on page 10) whether you
can remedy the fault yourself.
