dysfunctional hemoglobins (such as
carbonxy-hemoglobin or
methemoglobin) may affect the
accuracy of the SpO

measurement.
11 Intravascular dyes such as
indocyanine green or methylene
blue may affect the accuracy of the
SpO
2
measurement.
12 Batteries may leak or explode if
used or disposed of improperly.
13 Patients with hypotension, severe
vasoconstriction, severe anemia, or
hypothermia may have inaccurate
SpO
2
readings.
