OPERATING the FIREPLACE
Element4 Gas Fireplaces EuropeanHome.com
THE FIRST FIRE
When the replace is rst heated, an odor may be given o by the hot metal. This is normal and is a result of the ‘burn o’ of the
lubricants and sealants used when manufacturing the replace. We recommend that you open the nearby windows for extra
ventilation and then operate the replace for at least four hours.
When the glass is cold, some condensation may appear on the glass after lighting the replace. This is normal and the
condensation will disappear as the glass warms.
During this rst re, examine the ame for appearance and quality. Examine the burner media for sooting. The ames should look
like those shown below.
After this burn-o period, turn o the replace and let it cool completely to room temperature and clean both sides of the glass
and the interior panels as described in the MAINTENANCE section.
Since it is a metal replace, the heat-up and cool-down cycles may produce some noises caused by the expansion and contraction
of these metals. The premium materials and build quality of your replace will keep these sounds to a minimum.
