Review these instructions before beginning installation. Be sure that installation
conforms to all plumbing, electrical and other applicable codes.
When installation is complete, ensure these instructions are left in the plastic bag
provided inside the installed unit for future reference.
Service to be performed by authorized service personnel only.
INSTALLER
NOTE: It is common practice to ground electrical hardware such as telephones, computers and other devices
to available water lines. This can, however, cause electrical feedback in the plumbing circuit, which
results in an “electrolysis” effect occurring in the fountain. This may result in water which has a
metallic taste to it or has a noticeable increase in the metallic content of the water.
When inspecting plumbing circuit, remember the line may be grounded some distance from the
installation, and may occur outside the building or area in which the unit is being installed.
This condition can be avoided (in most cases) by using recommended materials during installation.

Overview

This document describes the installation and use of Elkay SwirlFlo® Fountains with Flexi-Guard® and ezH2O® Bottle Filler, specifically models EZWS-EDFPBM117K and LZWS-EDFPBM117K.

Function Description:

The Elkay SwirlFlo® Fountains with Flexi-Guard® and ezH2O® Bottle Filler are designed to provide drinking water and facilitate bottle filling. The units feature a bottle filler with an infrared (IR) sensor for touchless operation and a bottle counter. Some models include a water filter assembly. The fountains are designed for wall-mounted installation using a mounting frame.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Water Supply Pressure: Designed to operate on 20-105 PSI supply line pressure. A pressure regulator must be installed if inlet pressure exceeds 105 PSI. Operation outside this range (below 20 PSI or above 105 PSI) is not covered under warranty.
  • Electrical: New installations require a Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter (GFCI). The unit operates on 120V 60Hz, 1 phase power.
  • Drainage: Requires 1-1/4" O.D. waste tubes to a 1-1/4" O.D. slip trap. The bottle filler side trap must be 1-1/2" O.D. (provided by others).
  • Flow Rate (Estimated):
    • Refrigerated product ("REFRIG" setting): 1.0 gallon per minute.
    • Non-refrigerated product ("NON-RFRG" setting): 1.5 gallons per minute.
    • Both settings simulate 1 bottle equal to 20 oz.
  • Wall Opening Dimensions (for mounting frame): 37 1/2" (953mm) W x 31 1/2" (800mm) H, positioned 25" (635mm) above the floor line to comply with ANSI standard A117.1 for rim and bubbler heights.
  • Mounting Frame Support: The wall reinforcement must support up to 150 lbs static load.
  • Filter Capacity (Optional): Available in 3000GAL or 6000GAL options.

Usage Features:

  • Touchless Bottle Filling: An infrared (IR) sensor detects a cup, hand, or opaque object to dispense water. The sensor has a 20-second maximum ON time.
  • Bottle Counter: An LCD display shows the number of bottles saved. This counter can be reset.
  • Adjustable IR Sensor Range: The IR sensor's detection range can be set from 1 to 10, with '1' being closest to the sensor and '10' being farthest away.
  • Adjustable Stream Height: The bubbler stream height can be adjusted by removing the push button and turning a screw on the regulator. Clockwise adjustment raises the stream, counterclockwise lowers it. The optimal stream should hit the basin approximately 6-1/2" from the bubbler.
  • Unit Type Setting: The control board can be configured for "REFRIG" (refrigerated) or "NON-RFRG" (non-refrigerated) product, affecting the estimated flow rate.
  • Filter Monitor: For filtered units, a visual filter monitor (Green LED) indicates when the filter has been reset. The filter monitor can be reset via the program button.

Maintenance Features:

  • Filter Replacement: Instructions are provided for installing the filter head and filter. The filter monitor can be reset after replacement.
  • Orifice Assembly Cleaning: Mineral deposits on the orifice can cause irregular water flow. These deposits can be removed by poking with a small round file (not over 1/8" diameter) or a small diameter wire. Caution: Do not file or cut orifice material.
  • Stream Regulator Adjustment/Replacement: If the orifice is clean but flow is irregular, the stream regulator can be adjusted as per installation instructions or replaced using the parts list.
  • Quick Connect Water Fittings: The cooler uses lead-free connectors with o-ring water seals. To remove tubing, relieve water pressure, push in on the gray collar, and pull the tubing. To insert, push the tube straight until it reaches a positive stop (approximately 3/4").
  • Control Board Software Verification: The software designation (BF11 or BF12) can be verified by restarting the unit and observing the bottle count display during startup.
  • Programming Button Access: The program button, used for various settings and resets, is accessed by removing a screw and pulling back the cover plate on the lower fountain arm.
  • Service: Service is to be performed by authorized service personnel only.
  • Electrolysis Prevention: To avoid "electrolysis" effects (metallic taste in water, increased metallic content) caused by electrical feedback from grounded hardware connected to water lines, it is recommended to use plastic drain fittings to electronically isolate the fountain from the building's plumbing circuits.
