ES120 OPERATION MANUAL
IU ES120 2009-03-01 ENG.3.0
8.7. Turning the generator off
After the procedure, one should turn off the generator with the power-switch
(Fig. 3,
pos. 1)
and unplug the plug from the power socket
(Fig. 4, pos. 8),
. After the generator is off,
one should disconnect electrodes and forceps from the cables, and then disconnect electrodes
from the generator.
9. Protection measures and warnings
9.1.
When performing electrosurgical procedures, one should minimize the
risk of burns
by:
a)
using accessories only in accordance with their description (see point 1.1),
b)
constantly checking the application electrode connection cables, their insulation state
in particular,
c)
a careful application of the neutral electrode (see chapter “Neutral Electrode
Control”),
d)
not allowing any fluids to enter between the rubber neutral electrode and the patient's
body,
e)
securing the patient from coming into contact with metal and grounding elements,
f)
avoiding touching the patient’s skin; in case it is needed, dry gauze should be used as
an isolator,
g)
not allowing body parts to come into contact with each other (for instance a hand
touching a thigh)
h)
the neutral electrode should be applied as close as possible to the procedure location,
i)
during procedures performed on body parts (organs) which have narrow connections
to the rest of the body the bipolar technique should be applied
9.2.
When performing procedures on
patients connected to monitoring devices (EKG)
, one
should remember to place the monitoring electrodes as far as possible from the electrosurgical
application electrodes. Furthermore, monitoring devices equipped with protective systems
against high-frequency currents should be used.
