TIMING
BELT
MOTOR
Adjustment

Remove
the
Upper
Case
(4.1).
Loosen
the
left
front
and
right
rear
screws
on
the
carriage
motor
base.
Position
the
motor
to
insure
positive
drive
without
binding.
Minimum
gear
lash
0.05-
0.15mm
(.OO2-.0O6
inches).
Slide
the
motor
toward
the
front
of
the
printer
to
lessen
§ear
lash,
toward
the
back
to
increase
the
istance
between
the
gears.
The
gears
must
not
be
locked.
Reassemble
the
printer
and
perform
a
self
test.
During
the
self
test
verify
consistent
carriage
speed
in
both
directions.

Remove
the
Printer
Mechanism
(4.7).
2.
Remove
the
timing
belt
motor
and
heat
sink
(4.10).
3.
Loosen
the
adjustment
screw
on
the
belt
tensioninq
plate.

timing
belt
from
the
pulley
at
each
end
of
the
pnnter
assembly.

Use
a
great
deal
of
care

next
step

as
not
to
break
the
carriage
assembly.

Grasp
the
timing
belt
firmly
as
close
as
possible
to
eacn
side
of
the
carriage
assembly.
Push
straight
down
on
the
timing
belt
to
release
it
from
the
clip
holding
it
to
the
carriage.

Remove
the
belt
from
the
printer
mechanism.
Replacement
1.
Thread
the
new
timing
belt
through
the
hole
in
the
right
frame
and
position
it
over
the
pulley
at
each
end.
2.
Slide
the
belt
tension
plate
to
the
left
to
apply
enough
tension
to
hold
the
timing
be
ton
the
pulleys.
CAUTION:
Use
a
great
deal
of
care
during
the
next
step
so
as
not
to
break
the
carriage
assembly.

Engage
the
timing
belt
in
the
slot
on
the
bottom
of
the
carriage
(fig.
4-17).
If
you
experience
difficulty
getting
the
belt
to
slide
into
the
slot
by
hand
position
it
as
straight
as
possible,
and
then
use
a
small
screwdriver
to
exert
upward
force
on
the
belt
being
careful
not
to
use
excessive
force
which
could
break
the
carriage.
