Trouble Shooting Guide
PROBLEM CAUSE AND SOLUTION
ENGINE PROBLEMS
The engine is running too hot.
• The engine raw water pick up strainer is clogged with marine
growth. Clean pick up.
• The engine raw water pump impeller is worn or damaged.
Repair the pump.
• The engine thermostat is faulty and needs to be replaced.
The engine alternator is not charging properly.
• The battery cable is loose or corroded. Clean and tighten
battery cables.
• The alternator is not charging and must be replaced.
• The battery is defective. Replace the battery.
The engine suddenly will not operate over 2000 RPM.
• The engine emergency system has been activated. The on
board computer has sensed a problem and has limited the
RPM to protect the engine. Find & correct the problem.
• The tachometer is bad and needs to be replaced.
• The throttle control is not responding properly. Have the
throttle setting checked by a qualiedtechnician.
The engine is loosing RPM. The boat is not overloaded
and the hull bottom and running gear are clean and in
good condition.
• The engine may be having a problem with a sticky Anti-
siphon valve, located in the fuel line near the fuel tank, that
isrestrictingthefuelow.Remove&cleanorreplacethe
anti-siphon valve.
• Theremotegasolinefuelltercouldbedirty.Inspectand
replacethefuellter.
• Theprimaryfuellterontheenginemaybedirty.Inspect
andreplacethefuellter.
• The electronic engine control system on the engine is mal-
functioning. Repair the engine control system.
• The fuel injection system on the engine is malfunctioning .
Repair the fuel injection system.
