11.6 Bimini Top (Optional)
The canvas for Everglades boats is custom t
to each boat. The Bimini top is designed with
a relatively at prole and a snug t. To install
the top, attach the main legs to the deck hinges
using the quick release pins and leave the rear
stanchions loose. Next, open the Bimini and at-
tach the front straps to the metal eye straps on
the deck, forward of the center console. Attach
the rear stanchions, one at a time, to the rear
deck hinges located on the deck aft of the leaning
post. Use your body weight on the rear corner of
the top to pull down and stretch the fabric until
the stanchion eye end lines up with the hole in
the deck hinge. Secure each eye end to the deck
hinge with the quick release pins. If the top is
adjusted to factory specications, the top will be
level and the canvas tight.
Notice:
The front straps of the Bimini must be se-
cured to the front eye straps before the rear
stanchions are secured to the deck. If the
rear stanchions are secured rst, it will be
difcult to secure the front straps without
loosening them. If the front straps are loos-
ened, the Bimini top will be too loose.
11.7 Hardtop
The standard hardtop consists of a laminated -
berglass top mounted to a welded powder coated
aluminum frame that is bolted to the console and
helm seat base. It is equipped with a switch panel,
overhead lighting for the helm and a mounting
area for a VHF radio and stereo. The 245 Center
Console hardtop also has storage in the rear of
the hardtop liner, above the helm seats for life
jackets and other light items.
The top is designed to accommodate radio anten-
nas, radar antennas, forward and aft spreader
lights, navigation lights and rod holders. It could
also be equipped with optional outriggers.
The hardtop is not designed to support the addi-
tional weight of heavy items like a life raft. Radar
and electronics antennas must be mounted to the
top between the front and rear legs in the mount-
ing areas provided. Do not mount any antennas
or equipment to the brow area forward of the
front legs. The hardtop frame is not designed to
support the weight of accessories in this area and
could be damaged. The rear legs provide the wire
chase for lights and antennas mounted to the top.
