8.5.2 Earthing plates
- An earthing plate is a shot-peened plate mounted on the hull to recreate an earth neutral point on the electrical circuit
of the equipment supplying AC power (generator and AC/DC convertor). The earthing plate earths this equipment.
The earthing plate is not an anode: it must not be allowed to deteriorate.
- If the earthing plate deteriorates, consult a professional immediately to determine the cause. Because it is mounted
across the hull below the waterline, deterioration of the earthing plate puts the boat at risk of sinking.
