LANPlug 2000 will be assigned an IP, default gateway and DNS addresses from the Internet
router.
If the DHCP setting is set to “NO”, a static IP address must be assigned to the LANPlug 2000
manually for the given network. After assigning the IP address, default gateway and DNS, select
“OK” to save the change.
2. IPv4 address / netmask
The IPv4 address setting displays the IP address that was assigned to the LANPlug 2000
dynamically or statically and its associated subnet mask.
To change the IP address from DHCP to static, perform the following:
1. Log into the LANPlug 2000.
2. Select IP and then set the DHCP to NO.
3. Change the IPv4, address.
4. Select OK.
3. Default Gateway and DNS
The default gateway setting, displays the IP address that is used to forward information from the
home network to the Internet. Typically, the default gateway’s IP address is the IP address of the
Internet router.
The Domain Name Servers (DNS) setting displays the IP address for the DNS. The DNS is the
Internet's equivalent of a phone book. It maintains a directory of domain names and translate
them to Internet Protocol (IP) addresses. This is necessary because, although domain names are
easy for people to remember, computers or machines, access websites based on IP addresses.
Typically, the default gateway’s IP address is the IP address of the Internet router.
