The Traffic-Control unit offers a multitude of possible uses. It allows to
pilot, switch or even influence, via Car System, the most varied consuming
devices. You will thus be able to actuate for instance motors, smoke gene-
rators, lighting elements and many others more. You will only have to make
sure, by means of protective resistors, that the right voltage is available.
The voltage available at the outputs is approx. 21 V direct current (unloa-
ded, no-load voltage).
Inputs
To activate an input you will always require a sensor or a switch that is con-
nected to both, that input (E1, E2, ...) and the “+” port of the Traffic-Con-
trol. Which wire is connected to which one of both ports does not matter
here. However, you may not connect any source of current to any input of
the Traffic-Control.
ADVICE: All inputs are potential free, that is to say, there must not be any
voltage at such inputs. To perform any activation, only use sensors, push
buttons, switches or switching tracks.
Outputs
The outputs are protected from 650 mA onwards via three current-limiting
devices, so that up to four components consuming each 150 mA may be
connected for each current-limiting device. In case of any overload the cur-
rent-limiting device will be activated for 0.5 second before the power supply
is cut off for 2.5 s. After 2.5 s the power supply will be switched on again for
0.5 s. If, once that time interval has passed, the overload occurs again, then
the outputs will switch off again for 2.5 s. Such protective procedure ensures
that short-time overloads (starting current pulses) will not switch the outputs
off, but lengthy overloads will reliably disconnect the outputs from supply.
