Appendix C – Nav System Compatibility
The FD200CPU series is compatible with any FMS/GPS system that outputs
data through RS-232 or ARINC 429 data. Some systems, however, require
certain settings, due to variations in Aviation data or 429 labels.
The following is a list of common navigation systems and the appropriate
data channels, as well as any requirements for software changes that are
required.
Bendix/King
KLN
This unit requires the line “Using CNX-80 GPS” to be set to “True” in the
Vista.ini configuration file.
The KLN 90 series does not output altitude, and therefore requires an Icarus
serializer in order to display altitude on the statistics page. See Appendix B
for instructions on setting the unit to use an Icarus serializer, or to disable the
display of altitude on the statistics page.
Note: Some KLN units have caused the FD200CPU to display the “Found
New Hardware” dialog box. Please contact Flight Display Systems for
assistance in resolving this issue.
Garmin
Apollo 2101, CNX-80
These units require the line “Using CNX-80 GPS” to be set to “True” in the
Vista.ini configuration file.
Trimble
TNL 2100/3100
This unit requires the line “Using Trimble 2100 or 3100” to be set to “True”,
and “Locator” set to “10” in the Vista.ini configuration file. In addition, the
Trimble must be set to “XO” on the RS-232 serial output bus.
