5. Operation
Note:Beforeoperatingthedevice,pleasereadandunderstandallWarningandCaution

Note:ModelsTA72andTA74arenotdesignedforusewithVFD(VariableFrequencyDrive)
equipment,aserroneousreadingsmayresult.UsingwithVFDequipmentdoesnotposeasafety
hazardtopersonnelandwillnotdamageequipment.PleasecontactFLIRforadditional
information.
5.1PoweringtheMeter
Themeterispoweredbytwo(2)AAA1.5Vbatteries(locatedinthecompartmentonthebackof
themeter).PressandholdthePowerbutton
for>2secondstoswitchthedeviceONorOFF.
ThemeterwillbeepasitswitchesONandoneoftheRangeindicatorlampswillbe lit.Usethe
Rangebuttontoselectarangemanually.
IfthemeterdoesnotswitchONpleasecheckthebatterieslocatedintherearbattery
compartment.RefertothebatteryreplacementsectionofthisUserGuide.
5.1.1AutoPowerOFF(APO)
ThemeterswitchesOFFautomaticallyafteranapproximately10minuteperiodofinactivity.
SeveralsecondsbeforethemeterautomaticallyswitchesOFFthemeterbeepsseveraltimesto
alerttheuser.
TodisabletheAPOfeature,pressboththeRANGEandPOWERbuttonssimultaneously(with
themeterOFF).Thethreerangeindicator
LEDswillflashthreetimes.ToreenableAPO,turn
themeterOFFthenON.
ThemeterreenablesAPOeachtimethemeterispoweredOFF.
5.2WorkLights
Withtheunitpoweredup,presstheWorkLightbutton toswitchthehighpowerWorkLights
ONorOFF.NotethatexcessiveuseoftheWorkLightswillshortenbatterylife.
