Questions and Answers

What to do if Follett HCD Ice Maker is not making ice and shows HI AMPS?
    • D
      Dr. Vincent ElliottAug 12, 2025
If your Follett Ice Maker displays a HI AMPS error and isn't making ice, it could be due to several reasons. Poor water quality might be causing ice to jam the auger; in this case, clean the ice machine and increase the flushing frequency. Alternatively, the shuttle mechanism or thermostat could be damaged (closed), requiring replacement or repair. A kinked transport tube (for thermostat systems) can also cause this issue; straighten the tube to resolve it. Another potential cause is an intermittent drive output from the PC board, leading to evaporator freeze-up, so the PC board may need to be replaced. Finally, ensure the gearmotor is properly plugged in.

Why is my Follett HCD running but not producing ice?
    • M
      Maria DiazAug 17, 2025
If your Follett Ice Maker is running but not making ice, several components could be the cause. It might be a defective compressor, start relay, start capacitor, run capacitor, or main contactor, each requiring replacement. Another possibility is no output from the PC board, which would also necessitate replacing the PC board. It is also possible that the machine is in a Purge cycle, so check for Purge operation.

What causes a Follett Ice Maker to stop making ice with a 'Lo water' error?
    • M
      mhoweAug 20, 2025
A 'Lo water' error on your Follett Ice Maker indicates a water supply issue. First, check if the water supply is turned on. If the evaporator was completely empty, you might need to press the reset button to restart the ice machine. Low water pressure can also cause this; the ice machine should start once the water reaches the normal low level. A defective water feed solenoid valve stuck in the closed position could be the culprit, requiring replacement. Lastly, there might be no water feed output from the PC board, which would mean replacing the PC board.

How to fix a drain clog in Follett HCD Ice Maker that's preventing ice production?
    • T
      Tina TravisAug 25, 2025
If your Follett Ice Maker isn't making ice due to a drain clog, start by checking the drain hose for kinks or blockages that are causing water to back up; remove any obstructions or straighten the hose. Also, inspect the fool or drain routing/pitch, and re-route if necessary to ensure proper drainage. High TDS levels and a leaking drain solenoid can also lead to clogs, so clean the area around the drain sensor and consider replacing the drain solenoid valve.

What to do if Follett HCD Ice Maker is in TIME DELAY mode without a full bin?
    • J
      Jennifer BurkeAug 27, 2025
If your Follett Ice Maker is in TIME DELAY mode despite the bin not being full, check for the following issues: Ice jamming may occur due to an improperly installed transport tube, causing a false shuttle, so correct the transport tube routing. The shuttle might be stuck in the up position, requiring repair or replacement of the shuttle mechanism. A damaged or improperly installed thermostat (open) can also cause this, so replace or reposition the thermostat. Lastly, ensure the transport tube hasn't backed out of the coupling and correct the coupling installation if needed.

Why is there excessive water in the ice bin of my Follett HCD?
    • D
      Dr. Diana MillerAug 31, 2025
Excessive water in the ice bin of your Follett Ice Maker could be due to a few reasons. Failed water sensors may cause the processor to incorrectly detect water levels; try cleaning or replacing the water probe assembly and check the wiring connections. A blocked reservoir vent can also contribute, so clean or replace the vent tubes. Lastly, a defective water feed solenoid valve stuck in the open position would need to be replaced.

Why is my Follett Ice Maker locked in PURGE and not making ice?
    • J
      Jennifer WilsonSep 4, 2025
If your Follett Ice Maker is locked in PURGE and not making ice, it could be due to a self-flush cycle that failed to drain the evaporator because of a failed drain solenoid valve; in this case, replace the drain solenoid valve. Another reason could be that the water reservoir or ice machine is not level, preventing proper drainage after a self-flush. Level the ice machine and check the water reservoir to ensure it's not tilted towards the compressor.

What does it mean if the CPU is not flashing on my Follett HCD Ice Maker?
    • K
      Kyle TrevinoSep 8, 2025
If the CPU on your Follett Ice Maker is not flashing, it indicates that the processor has been damaged and the PC board needs to be replaced.
