Fast Ethernet Switch
Device that provides a full 100 Mbps bandwidth (or either 10 or
100 Mbps bandwidth with Auto-Negotiation) to each port (LAN
segment).
Full Duplex
Transmission method that allows switch and network card to
transmit and receive concurrently, effectively doubling the
bandwidth of that link.
Gigabit Ethernet
A 1000 Mbps network communication system based on Ethernet
and the CSMA/CD access method.
IEEE 802.3
Defines carrier sense multiple access with collision detection
(CSMA/CD) access method and physical layer specifications.
IEEE 802.3ab
Defines CSMA/CD access method and physical layer
specifications for 1000BASE-T Fast Ethernet.
IEEE 802.3u
Defines CSMA/CD access method and physical layer
specifications for 100BASE-TX Fast Ethernet.
IEEE 802.3x
Defines Ethernet frame start/stop requests and timers used for
flow control on full-duplex links.
IEEE 802.3z
Defines CSMA/CD access method and physical layer
specifications for 1000BASE Gigabit Ethernet.
