• Microwave ovens may interfere with th e ope ration of WL AN devices since they operate in the
same 2.4 GHz frequency range as IEEE802.11b/g/n devices. Interference by microwaves
does not occur with IEEE802.11a radio which operates in the 5 GH z RF band.
• Wireless devices that transmit in the 2.4 GH z range may interfere with operation of WLAN
devices in IEEE802.11b/g/n modes. Symptoms of interference include reduced throughput,
intermittent disconnects, and many frame erro rs. It is HIGHLY reco mmended tha t these
interfering devices be powered off to ensure proper operation of the WLAN device.
Deactivating/Disconnecting the WLAN Device
Disconnecting the WLAN d
evice may be desired in certain circumstances (to extend battery
life) or where certain e
nvironments require it (i.e. hospitals, clinics, airplanes, etc.). Th e
WLAN device can be disco
nnected in Windows using the WLAN icon in the system tray
(Note that disconnecti
ng via the icon in the system tray does not turn off the radio; it
continues to transmit
and receive even though it’s not connected.)

2. W indows 7: Select Control Panel in the Start menu.
3. W hen the display type "Details" is set in the Control P anel, select the icon view
and then click the icon Network and Sharing Center.
4. Select Setup a new connection or network.
5. D epending u pon what type of connection you would like to make, make a selection. For
an infrastructure network, selec t Manually connect to a wireless network.
6. Ente r the required informa tion. It may be necessary to consult with your n etwork
administrator for some of the information.
7. In the event you require assistance, go to the Network and Sharing Center window (Control
Panel > Network and Sharing Center), and type in relevant keywords in the Search box.
