Please observe the points listed below w hen travelling with your notebook.
Before you travel
► Back up important data store d on your hard disk.

► Sw itch off the wireless component for data security reasons. With data traffic via a wireless
connection, it is also possible for unauthorised third parties to receive data.
Information on activating data encryption is provided in the documentation
for your wireless co mponent.
► If you wish to use your notebook during a flight, first c heck with the flight
attendants if it is OK to do so.
When travelling in other countries
► If you are travelling abroad, check that the mains adapter can be operated with the
local mains voltage. If this is not the case, obtain the appropriate mains adapter for
your notebook. Do not use any other voltage converter!
► C heck whether the local ma ins voltage and the power cable are compatible. If this is
not the case, b uy a power cable that matches the local conditions.
► C ontact the rele vant authorities of the country you will be travelling in a s to
whether you may o perate the rad io component integrat ed into yo ur notebook
computer. Please observe the additional safety instructions for devices with radio
components, found in the hand book “Safety/formalities”.
Notebook: t ranspo rting
Protect the notebook from severe shocks and extreme temperatures
(e.g. direct sunlight in a car).
► Sw itch the notebook off.
► U nplug the mains adapter and all external devices from the power socket.
► D isconnect the mains adapter cable and t he data cables for all external devices.
► C lose the LCD screen.
► To protect against damaging jolts and bumps, use a notebook carrying
case to transport your notebook.
