Stranspondertrafcwithintheradarservicearea.TheTIS-Bserviceisnotavailableinareaswithoutradar
surveillance,orwhentheaircraftisoutsideoftheradarservicearea.Thesystemmaydisplayradar-derived
TIS-BtrafcwithdegradedpositionalaccuracycomparedtoUATor1090EStrafc,whichself-reportGPS
positionsaboutonceasecond.TIS-Bdoesnotdetectaircraftwithoutoperatingtransponders.
GDL90trafcisintendedtobeusedbothin-ightandontheairportsurface.Systemsshouldbeenabled,
andremainenabled,wheneveroperatingintheairandontheairportsurface,unlessATCissuesarequesttostop
thetransmission.Thiscanbeaccomplishedbyselectingthetransponderstandbymode,whichalsodisables
theGDL90UATbroadcast.SeetheAudioPanelandCNSSectionformoreinformationabouttransponder
controls.
Thetrafcdisplaysarenot intended to be used as a collision avoidance system and the system not relieve
thepilot’sresponsibilityto“seeandavoid”otheraircraft.Thetrafcdisplaysmustnotbeusedforavoidance
maneuversduringIMCorothertimeswhenthereisnovisualcontactwiththeintruderaircraft.TheADS-B
systemisintendedonlytoassistinvisualacquisitionofotheraircraft.Itdoesnotprovideavoidancemaneuvers.

ofsymbology.Thesystemdisplaysthetrafcusingthesymbolsshowninthetablebelow.Aboveorbelow
thetrafcsymbolisthetrafcidentier,andaltitude(ifavailable).Asmallupordownarrownexttothetrafc
symbolindicatesthatthetrafcisclimbingordescendingatarateofatleast500feetperminute.Thevector
linethatextendsbeyondthepointofthetrafcarrowisjustfurtherindicationoftheintruderaircrafttrack,
