Why does my GE Dehumidifier not start?

  Your GE Dehumidifier might not start due to several reasons: it may be unplugged (ensure the plug is completely pushed into the outlet), a blown fuse or tripped circuit breaker (check and replace the fuse or reset the breaker), the unit has reached its preset level or the bucket is full (change to a lower setting or empty the bucket), the bucket is not in the proper position (ensure it's in place and securely seated), or a power failure (there is a protective time delay of up to 3 minutes).

  If you can't set the controls on your GE Dehumidifier, it's normal for the compressor to turn off and the fan to continue running for about 3 minutes at a fixed setting. Wait approximately 3 minutes before setting the fan as desired.

Also, the humidity control might not be set low enough; adjust it to a lower percentage or set it to 'Continuous' for maximum dehumidification. Finally, ensure all doors and windows are tightly closed, and that your clothes dryer isn't blowing moisture into the room. Consider moving the dehumidifier away from the dryer, and ensure the dryer is vented outside. Note that lower room temperatures can also reduce moisture removal.
