Why my GE APEL50 Dehumidifier does not start?
    • P
      Pamela SmithAug 14, 2025
If your GE Dehumidifier doesn't start, first ensure it's fully plugged into the outlet. Check your house's fuse or circuit breaker and replace the fuse or reset the breaker if needed. Also, the dehumidifier turns off automatically when it reaches its preset level or the bucket is full, so adjust the settings or empty the bucket. Make sure the bucket is correctly positioned. Finally, after a power failure, there's a protective 3-minute delay to prevent compressor overload before normal operation resumes.

What to do if the 'Bucket Full' light flashes on my GE APEL50 Dehumidifier when the drain hose is connected?
    • J
      Jacqueline JohnsonAug 17, 2025
If the Bucket Full LED light is flashing and the alarm sounds on your GE Dehumidifier while the drain hose is connected, check the drain hose connection to ensure it's tight on the fitting. Also, make sure the drain hose is pointed straight down to the floor without any kinks.

Why is my GE APEL50 Dehumidifier not drying the air properly?
    • B
      byrdchaseAug 21, 2025
If your GE Dehumidifier isn't drying the air adequately, give it at least 24 hours after initial setup to reach the desired dryness. Ensure that curtains, blinds, or furniture aren't blocking airflow to the unit. For drier air, lower the humidity control setting. Check that all doors and windows are closed tightly, and ensure your clothes dryer isn't venting moist air into the room. Note that moisture removal is most effective at higher room temperatures, above 41°F (5°C).

Why does my GE Dehumidifier run too much?
    • J
      John WagnerAug 26, 2025
If your GE Dehumidifier runs too much, it might be due to the area being too large for the unit's capacity. Alternatively, open doors and windows can cause the dehumidifier to work harder. Close all doors and windows to the outside to improve efficiency.

Why does frost appear on the coils of my GE APEL50 Dehumidifier?
    • J
      Jeffrey BushAug 28, 2025
If frost appears on the coils of your GE Dehumidifier, especially after turning it on or if the room temperature is below 41°F (5°C), this is generally normal. The frost should disappear within 60 minutes.

Why control cannot be set on my GE APEL50 Dehumidifier?
    • A
      Alexa WilsonSep 1, 2025
If the control on your GE Dehumidifier cannot be set, it may be because the compressor turns off, but the fan continues to run for about 3 minutes at a fixed setting. This is normal operation. Wait approximately 3 minutes before setting the fan as desired.

What to do if I see water on the floor near my GE APEL50 Dehumidifier?
    • T
      Tiffany JonesSep 5, 2025
If you find water on the floor near your GE Dehumidifier, first check if the hose connection is loose and tighten it. If you're using the bucket to collect water, ensure that any attached hose is disconnected.
  • S
    Steven ParkerSep 9, 2025
Why is my GE APEL50 Dehumidifier making fan noise?
    • R
      Robert GonzalezSep 9, 2025
Fan noise from your GE Dehumidifier simply means that air is moving through it, which is normal.
