Question and Answer IconNeed help?

Do you have a question about the GE DPI620G-IS and is the answer not in the manual?

Overview

The Druck DPI620G-IS is a battery-powered, intrinsically safe calibrator and communicator designed for use in hazardous areas. It offers a comprehensive suite of electrical measure and source operations, alongside advanced digital communication capabilities for HART®, Foundation Fieldbus, and Profibus protocols. The device features a touch-screen display that can simultaneously show up to five different parameters, enhancing user efficiency and data visualization.

Function Description

The DPI620G-IS functions primarily as a versatile calibrator, capable of independent operations across five channels. Its core capabilities include:

  • Electrical Measure & Source Functions:
    • Current (measure & source)
    • Voltage (measure & source)
    • Thermocouple (measure & simulate)
    • Frequency (measure & source)
    • Resistance (measure & simulate)
    • RTD (measure & simulate)
    • Pulses (measure & source)
    • Observed (source): Allows manual entry of a value, such as a reading from a connected voltmeter.
  • Digital Communication:
    • HART® Communicator: Supports Universal and Common Practice commands (HART® revision 5 to 7) and devices with Device Descriptions (DD). It can operate as a Primary Master, controlling all communications, or as a Secondary Master, communicating with field devices within an existing HART® network.
    • Foundation Fieldbus Communicator: Implements the H1 protocol via an integrated H1 modem (available in DPI620G-IS-FF or DPI620G-IS-FFPB models). It supports connections to existing networks, stand-alone devices, and various network configurations.
    • Profibus Communicator: Utilizes an integrated modem for PROFIBUS PA Fieldbus implementation (available in DPI620G-IS-PB or DPI620G-IS-FFPB models).
  • Documentation Capabilities:
    • Data Logging: Records instrument readings for review and analysis, with options for periodic or key-press logging. Data is stored in a Comma Separated Variable (CSV) format, facilitating import into spreadsheet applications.
    • Analysis Function: Calibrates the transfer characteristic of a device under test by taking readings from two or more DPI620G-IS channels. One channel serves as the Reference, providing the input signal, while other channels measure the output. It calculates deviation in %Span or %Rdg and indicates pass/fail results based on tolerance limits.
    • Run Procedure: Executes calibration procedures downloaded from 4Sight or Intecal v10 software, including test points and ramp times.
