Alternate site testing may fail to detect hypoglycemia. Use ngertip samples when you are
concerned with hypoglycemia (insulin reactions) such as when operating a vehicle or if you suffer
from hypoglycemic unawareness (lack of symptoms to indicate an insulin reaction).
Testing with a ngertip sample may identify a hypoglycemic (low blood sugar) level sooner than a
test with the alternate site sample.
Routine testing before meals can be done either at the ngertips, forearm, upper arm, hand, thigh
or calf.
