Itisveryimportanttoproperlyandregularlycleanyourstove.Youareburningawoodproductand
thiswillresultintheformationofash,soot,andpotentiallycreosote.Theseby‐productsmustbe
regularlyandconsistentlycleanedandremovedfromthestoveinordertoensurethatyourstove
continuestooperateefficientlyandsafely.
Impropermaintenanceaccountsformostdifficultiesthatpeoplehavewiththestove.Alackof
propermaintenancemayevenresultintheunitnotfunctioningorserioussafetyconcerns.Besure
tofollowallrecommendedmaintenanceinthismanual.Ifyouarenotsureofhowtoperformanyof
theseactionsbesuretospeakwithyourdealerorcontactourtechnicalsupportdepartmentfor
additionalinstructions.
A. HeatExchangeTubes–Yourstoveisdesignedwithabuilt‐in
heatexchangetubecleaner.Thisshouldbeuseddailyto
removeaccumulatedashonthetubes,whichreducesthe
efficiencyofyourunit.Insertthehandleend(withhole)of
thecleaningtoolontothecleaningrod(refertofigure13).
Thecleanerrodislocatedinthegrillabovethestovedoor.
Movethecleanerrodbackandforthseveraltimestoclean
theheatexchangertubes.Whenfinishedbesuretoleave
tubecleanerattherearofthestove.
B. InteriorChambers–Thetwoashdoorsinthefireboxinthe
Taloncanberemovedforperiodiccleaning(refertofigure
14).Thesedoorsallowaccesstothechamberbehindthe
firebox.
Periodically,youmustvacuumashesfromthischamber.Besure
tohaveanattachmentonyourvacuumsothatyoucangetall
thewaytotheleftandrightofthesecleanouts,andalltheway
upinsideofthesedoorstothetopofstove.

PLATESATLEASTONCEPERTONOFPELLETS
BURNED.
Insomecasesyouwillneedtoremovecreosote,which
canaccumulaterapidlyundercertainconditions.A
smallwirebrushcanbeused.Usethesmallwirebrushtoalsocleantheinsideofthe
chamberwalls,abovetheaccessdoors.
ITISIMPORTANTTOREMOVETHISCREOSOTEBECAUSEITISHIGHLYCOMBUSTIBLE.
