Shopping has long been dependent on you seeing items to buy,
but the advent of widespread online shopping over the last 20 years
has made us more open to buying stuff unseen. And repeatedly
over the last decade we’ve seen our high streets reshaped as big
names crash out and others adapt and evolve. Now retailers are
having to adapt again to new ways of consumers buying stuff,
just as it had to with online shopping and thereafter the advent
of smartphones and shopping with apps.
The new frontier
Now e-commerce has moved to a new frontier – shopping with
your voice. In the US, Google Home makes use of the Google
Express app which enables you to buy stuff from a variety of
different retailers. In the UK, things are a bit more specific since
Google hasn’t rolled out its Express app here quite yet. Keep an
eye on the future – you never know what will happen.
