REMOVING and REPLACING DISPLACEMENT PUMP

To reduce the risk of serious bodily injury, in-

Flush the sprayer if possible and relieve pressure.
For the low-profile cart sprayers, remove the clips
holding the hose to the displacement pump.

Unscrew adapter

from pump. While holding a
wrench on the pump intake valve

to keep
it
from
loosening.
Unscrew the hose
(52)
from the connector (10).

and push out the pin
(34).
Use a screwdriver to push the retaining spring

aside
Loosen the locknut
(112) and unscrew the pump from
the drive assembly
(55).
When installing
a
new or repaired pump, first rotate the
crankshaft
so
the connecting rod
(54)
is in
its
lowest
position. Push the pump piston rod
(79)
all
the way
down into the pump cylinder
(78). Screw the pump into
the drive assembly
(55) until you feel the piston rod
pressing against the connecting rod. Unscrew the pump
until the connector
(10) lines up with the outlet hose
(52).
then unscrew another complete turn.
Torque the locknut
(112) to 70 ft
-
lb (95 Nm). The
locknut must be very tight to avoid loosening from
vibration.

Align the holes in the piston rod (79) and coupling (36)
and instell the pin
(34).
Be
sure to push the spring
(33)
down in place over the pin ends.
Reassemble the remaining parts reverse from
disassembly.

Remove the
two
screws and the cover of the capacitor
old Capacitor. Connect the flag connectors of the new
(23d).

Fig 15. Remove the flag connectors from the
capacitor and replace the cover.
NOTE:
The replacement capacitor includes
a
new
resistor, installed.
