7.3 Clean the electrode
After 3 to 12 months of operation, a dark green layer of silver bromide (AgBr) can form on the silver
anode of the electrode. The dark layer does not affect the measurement unless more than 90% of
the silver anode is covered.
When the membrane is replaced, examine the silver anode. If more than 2/3 of the silver anode is
covered by a dark green layer of silver bromide (AgBr), clean the electrode as follows:
1. Very softly polish the silver anode with a soft abrasive (N° 400 to 600).
2. Rinse the electrode with demineralized water and wipe dry with a soft cloth.
3. Put the sensor in the sample and wait 30 minutes for the measurement to stabilize.
4. Calibrate the sensor.
