4. Make sure the clips are in good contact. WARNING: Turn your face away from the battery
when completing the connection.
5. Plug the charger power cord into a 230V mains outlet.
6. Turn the position selector to the correct charging current position to start.
7. Turn the position selector to 0 to switch o.
8. When disconnecting the charger, rst unplug the power cord, then disconnect the clip that is
connected to the chassis and nally the clip that is connected to the battery.
CHARGING A FREESTANDING BATTERY
NOTE:
• Make sure to check the battery type when charging freestanding batteries. Always follow these
instructions when charging freestanding batteries to reduce the risk of sparking.
WARNING:
• Sparks nears batteries can cause them to explode.
• Always disconnect the earthed terminal rst when taking the battery out of the vehicle. Before
disconnecting the battery, check that all electrical equipment in the vehicle is switched o to
prevent arcing.
• Always connect the earthed terminal rst when replacing the battery in the vehicle.
• Make sure there is adequate ventilation when charging batteries. You can use a piece of
cardboard or other non-metallic object to fan away the gas.
1. Check the polarity of the battery. The polarity is indicated on the battery casing: positive with
POS, P or + and negative with NEG, N or -. NOTE: The battery’s positive terminal may have a
larger diameter than the negative terminal.
2. Connect the positive lead (red) to the output terminal with the required voltage. Undo the
nuts.
3. Connect the charger’s positive clip (red) to the battery’s positive terminal (POS, P, +).
4. Connect the charger’s negative clip (black) to the battery’s negative terminal (NEG, N, -).
5. Make sure the clips are in good contact. WARNING: Turn your face away from the battery
when completing the connection.
6. Plug the charger into the mains.
7. Turn the position selector to the correct charging current position to start.
8. Turn the position selector to 0 to switch o.
9. When the battery is fully charged, disconnect the power cord from the mains rst.
10. Disconnect the charger’s negative clip from the battery’s negative terminal and then the
charger’s positive clip from the battery’s positive terminal.
