AUXILIARY STARTING OF ENGINE
NOTE:
• Starting an engine consumes a lot of current and can cause the components in the charger to
get hot. Always follow the given time limits for starting an engine.
• Never keep the starter running if the engine does not start.
• When starting a vehicle with a large battery capacity, or in very cold weather, the battery must be
charged for about 15 minutes, otherwise the charger will consume so much current that the
mains fuse will blow.
• Auxiliary starting requires a 16A fuse.
1. Check the polarity of the battery.
2. The polarity is indicated on the battery casing: positive with POS, P or + and negative with
NEG, N or -. NOTE: The battery’s positive terminal may have a larger diameter than the
negative terminal.
3. Connect the positive lead (RED) to the output terminal with the required voltage. Undo the
nuts.
4. Connect the charger’s positive clip (red) to the battery’s positive terminal (POS, P, +).
5. Connect the charger’s negative clip (black) to the battery’s negative terminal (NEG, N, -).
6. Make sure the clips are in good contact. WARNING: Turn your face away from the battery
when completing the connection.
7. Plug the charger into the mains.
8. Select position 7 for auxiliary starting.

position switch in position 0 and wait for 120 seconds (2 minutes) before trying again.
10. Switch o the charger by putting the position selector in position 0.
11. Disconnect the charger from the battery in the reverse order.
