5.4 - MANUAL BRAKE RELEASE
When the aerial work platform is shut down, or is inoperable, the brakes are automatically
locked. The brakes need to be released to allow the wheels to roll in order to winch / tow the
machine on to a truck bed or trailer.
For 45XA - HLA16PX and 55XA - HLA19PX :
To manually release the brakes, follow this procedure :
Free Wheel Valve
•
Open the cover of the Hydraulic Compartment to access the FREE WHEEL VALVE (1A)
and the MANUAL BRAKE RELEASE
.
•
Turn the FREE WHEEL VALVE (1A) counterclockwise (CCW) to open the valve
•
Depress the small BLACK knob ( 2 ).
•
Pump the larger RED knob ( 1 ) 60 - 80 times until there is resistance, or until the brakes
releas
e.
T
o re-activate the brakes, turn the FREE WHEEL VALVE (1A) clockwise (CW) until it stops.
Then activate the drive function at the platform (upper) control station.
