Turn rotary control pot CW to increase the gain. Each dot marker
equals 2.5dB (approx.) or +/- 40% and it increases on a log scale,
which is more steeply than on a linear scale
Control on maximum “10” provides gain of 31-32dB (x 5 approx.)
which is far greater than should normally be required
Start at around "2-3" or 1/4-1/3 CW up from zero and adjust to taste,
listening to the level/desired volume valve (tube) is driven from Gain
Control, then Blend Control, so when switched on to the channel,
higher gain will drive the valve harder. Valve Blend control is a
balance between dry signal and valve, so turning up CW will drive
valve harder
NOISE NOTES:
EDB-2 VAP is a multi-function device which may run most features
on batteries. EDB-2 VAP offers a battery backup since battery life is
reduced compared to EDB-2 H.E The battery option will not power
the valve (tube). Despite the constraints of designing EDB-2 VAP
with multiple functions and to include battery use, the device
operates at the lowest possible noise levels and has achieved a low
noise performance
EDB-2 VAP is neither a purely mains powered unit, a limited single
function device, or a digital software, so some small amount of
noise is inevitably generated from the over 700 components
connected in line
Noise levels usually increase as gain levels are boosted but may or
may not be noticeable. A higher output from EDB-2 VAP may
require running subsequent devices in the chain with less gain to
