7.2.1 SETTING UP YOUR “RICH” HARMONICS VALVE SOUND:
Ch.1
Set up your usual live sound at lowish but audible volumes from
your pickup or microphone on Ch.1, mainly focussed on Ch.1, with
Gain Control at low levels and Master volume up higher, with Valve
Blend Control at “0” Put Valve selector switch at Ch.1 position and
switch Valve ON
Turn Valve Blend Control up CW to bring valve sound in and listen
to the difference in tone with a slight boost in gain, which may be
countered by Gain or Master Controls
Turn the Valve Blend Control up CW towards “Warm” to increase
valve effect
For a cleaner, drier or brighter sound, back the Valve Blend Control
off ACW toward “Cool”
For a more intensive valve effect, change the selector switch to
Valve Doubler and try the Valve Blend Control in different positions.
The Doubler will add slightly to mid range, which may be countered
by EQ Controls
To achieve a harmonically rich effect, while retaining a brighter cut
through ( e.g. through a mix ), apply Valve Doubler to Ch.1 and try
applying Valve Blend Control at around 1/3 CW
With Valve Doubler in operation on Ch.1, the valve cannot then
apply to Ch.2
