Installing the patient
Before placing the patient on the bed
Assess the various risks, including but not limited to the following (incomplete list):
make sure that all the functions of the bed are in good working order,
caught hazard,
potential falls of the patient,
patient in state of confusion,
patient's learning ability,
children (aged less than 12 or under 1.46 m tall),
persons measuring more than 1.85m in height,
persons with BMI below 17,
persons weighing less than 40 kg,
persons lacking the mental capacity to recognize unsafe actions,
unauthorized persons,
check the list of recommended mattresses on the label on the adjustable head
section.
All persons authorized to use the bed’s functions must be capable of doing so in
a safe and controlled manner. In case of doubt, the bed’s functions must be
locked.

For the Hill-Rom® 900 bed, Hill-Rom recommends the mattresses listed below,
which are compatible with the safety recommendations (see “Risk prevention”
page 5):
