1.5. Operational Safety Instructions
The application area of this unit is in industrial, commercial processes and controls of
manufacturing lines such as metal, wood, plastic, paper, glass, and textile industries, among
others.
Voltage surges on the screw terminals of the unit must be limited to the value of Surge
category II.
The device shall be operated only in the properly installed and tested condition.
The E-Mon meters are tested for use at -13 to 158ºF (-25 to 70°C) ambient temperature
range. Additional testing is required if used beyond mentioned temperature range.
These meters have been evaluated for use in Overvoltage Category III and intended for
installation on the load side with suitable branch circuit protection.
Meter is tested with CS using branch circuit protection rated 15A.
Compliance to safety instructions is mandatory.
The unit is not suitable for explosion-proof areas and the areas of use excluded in
IEC/EN 61010 Part 1.
Additional safety precautions must be taken for monitoring machinery or
manufacturing process.
The unit is designed for both indoor and outdoor.
The E-Meter comes with a metallic enclosure. Check Description in section 3.2.3. If
installed otherwise, the installed enclosure shall provide a Pollution Degree 2 or better
environment for this equipment, when doing so please ensure UV protection.
1.6. Maintenance Safety Instructions
Clean the display and front body of the meter with a soft lint free cloth. Cleaning of the
installed meter is restricted as it shall only be done by trained personnel.
To reduce risk of electric shock, always open or disconnect the monitored circuit from
power-distribution system (or service) of building before servicing current-sensors.
This unit is maintenance-free during normal operation. In case the unit does not
function as intended, it must be returned to the factory for repair.
Unauthorized opening and repair are prohibited as it can impair the original protection
of the unit.
