FPGA Field Programmable Gate Array. A programmable device with an internal array of logic blocks
surrounded by a ring of programmable I/O blocks connected together through a programmable
interconnect.

hub A communications infrastructure device to which nodes on a multi-point bus or loop are physically
connected. It is used to improve the manageability of physical cables.

I/O module Input/Output module. The enclosure element that is the Fibre Channel drive enclosure interface
to the host or controller.
IDX A 2-digit decimal number portion of the HSV controller termination code display that defines one
of 32 locations in the Termination Code array that contains information about a specific event.
in-band
communication
The communication that uses the same communications channel as the operational data.

condition
A drive enclosure EMU condition that may require action. This condition is for information purposes
only and does not indicate the failure of an element.
initialization A configuration step that binds the controllers together and establishes preliminary data structures
on the array. Initialization also sets up the first disk group, called the default disk group, and
makes the array ready for use.
