Determining SCSI Bus Length
Ultra, Wide, Single-Ended SCSI Bus Length
Follow these instructions to calculate your total bus length for the ultra, wide, sin-
gle-ended SCSI bus on your system, using Table 26.
1 List all of your internal Ultra, Wide SCSI devices in the first column.
2 In the third column, write the lengths of the internal Ultra, Wide SCSI bus that
correspond to your devices.
3 In the fourth column, write down the lengths of the Ultra, Wide SCSI intercon-
nect cables you are using for your installation. (Cable lengths are listed in subsec-
tion “Cables” in the section on “SCSI Restrictions.”)
4 Add all of the numbers in the third column and write the sum on the subtotal line
at the bottom of the column. Do the same for the fourth column.
5 Add the subtotals together and write the total on the Total Ultra, Wide SCSI Bus
Length line.
NOTICE: The total length of the Ultra, Wide, Single-ended SCSI bus must not
exceed 3 meters (9.84 feet). If the number you write for Total Ultra, Wide
SCSI Bus Length is greater than 3 meters, try configuring your installation
with shorter cables.
